Patient and Visitor Code of Conduct
ÎÞÂëרÇø Children’s is dedicated to delivering high-quality health care in a safe and respectful environment that supports health and healing. To assure our hospitals and care locations are safe, caring, and inclusive, we ask our patients and visitors to follow the Patient and Visitor Code of Conduct.
Standards of Behavior
- Treat everyone with kindness, dignity, and respect. Discriminatory comments or refusals of care based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or personal traits are not acceptable.
- Use appropriate, respectful, appropriate language, and behavior at all times. Threats, violence, or suggestive or explicit actions will not be tolerated.
- Respect patient privacy and avoid disrupting care.
- Obtain consent from all individuals before taking photographs, videos, or audio recordings within ÎÞÂëרÇø facilities.
- Do not use or be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, except medications prescribed during care.
- Weapons are not permitted.
- During home visits, animals, weapons, and firearms must be properly secured.
If behavior violates the Code, individuals may be asked to leave and seek nonemergency care elsewhere. Serious or repeated violations may lead to a review of future care eligibility. You will be given the chance to explain your point of view or actions. ÎÞÂëרÇø will consider your explanation before making any decisions. Inappropriate or violent behavior may be reported to law enforcement.
If you witness or experience concerning behavior, please report to a ÎÞÂëרÇø associate.
Appointments
Emergencies
For emergencies requiring immediate assistance, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
Attendance Expectations
Patients and caregivers are expected to attend scheduled appointments. Missed appointments and late cancellations reduce access for other patients and families. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please call the scheduling line at (407) 650-7715 as soon as possible.
Late Arrivals
Arriving 15 minutes or more past your appointment time — whether in person or virtual — may require your appointment to be rescheduled.
No Show Policy
Two missed appointments without advance notice or two late cancellations (less than 48 hours before the appointment), may result in denying further appointments for your child. You will be provided with the chance to review with your provider.
Family Attendance
Family involvement is important to patient care and treatment outcomes. We request that caregivers remain fully engaged in the appointment to support safety and to participate as needed.
Dismissal From Practices
Patients or families may be dismissed from a department or provider’s care for:
- Repeated missed appointments
- Failure to follow agreements related to controlled substances
- Failure to follow the treatment (care) plan
- Other inappropriate behavior, as determined by ÎÞÂëרÇø.
ÎÞÂëרÇø Children’s MyChart
Families are encouraged to use to view medical records, to schedule or cancel appointments and to communicate with providers. More information is available at ÎÞÂëרÇø.org or from an associate. Use of MyChart is a privilege.
Teaching Environment
ÎÞÂëרÇø is a teaching organization. A licensed provider supervises all clinical student providers. You will be informed if a student provider is involved in care. You may contact the supervising provider with questions or concerns.
